THEY’RE HERE! THEY’RE HERE!
That’s pretty much what we were all exclaiming in the studio when Christina & Eric’s wedding photos arrived. Ever since we began working on their custom suite and day-of pieces, we have been practically holding our breath see how it all came together. The verdict: An absolute. Dream. Come. True. (Which, coincidentally is what it was like working with Christina!).
From the moment that Christina told us where her and Eric’s wedding would take place (a private equestrian hunting club in Allanton, Michigan), our internal mood boards began going straight to work. Visions of worn leather, velvet riding coats and golden hour pastures overtook our daydreams.
We funneled all of those visions into the artwork for the suite, which included a custom crest and coordinating watercolor illustrations. The entire suite is anchored by a blind letter pressed, double thick invitation and bound together with a handmade leather band. All of the different details work in harmony with a warm color palette and the use of negative space to make the illustrations stand out. *Insert a day dreamy sigh here*
For Christina and Eric’s day-of wedding pieces, we were lucky enough to have the chance to get creative and unique, and do some really fun things we’ve never done before in the Sable and Gray studio.
The escort board in particular was one of our very favorite things ever. Custom printed names were hung from thin suede string and attached to handmade leather coasters stamped with their custom crest. We love to see how our brides use their custom crests throughout their wedding, and these have to be some of our very favorite.
Along with the escort cards, we worked on custom printed programs (with velvet ribbon ties), hand calligraphed scroll place cards, table numbers, hand painted signs for both the ceremony and reception, and maybe the most fun piece we’ve ever done for a wedding: a hand built and painted cornhole board!
As we head into new projects this year, I’m hoping to take with me all of the inspiration that working on this suite gave me. Let’s be creative and unique, and bring as much personality and joy to the things we find ourselves working on.
And here is to Christina and Eric! May every day of the rest of their lives be as full of fun, laughter and love as the photo above.
