As our semi-custom invitations have grown in popularity over the past year, we thought we would take the opportunity to talk a bit more about them, using one of our very favorites from last summer as a shining example of how a semi-custom suite can be a wonderful option for your wedding.
Every wedding and bride that we work with is completely different. Each with their own stellar personalities and visions, as well as must-haves and must-have-nots. Sometimes it’s the venue that is the absolute most important element (besides the soon-to-be-spouse), sometimes it’s the cake, sometimes it’s the invitation suite.
Our favorite part about any stationery project that we par-take in is figuring out those must-haves. Whether it’s a color palette, highlighting important events, or staying within a specific budget, every suite has them. A semi-custom suite can be a great option as it can be tailor-made for all those things. It’s an easier fit for smaller invitation budgets, and by selecting a pre-designed suite, you can see the exact artwork elements right in front of you, making the decision on how much info to include or not include that much simpler.
The best part about working with a semi-custom suite is that, just like a custom suite, you can include or not include as much as you would like. You can add on a custom piece, like a map card, or take away something in the suite that you don’t want included. If you want your own custom crest, that’s can always be added on as well. Starting with the core of a pre-made design can be a useful jumping off point to make something unique.
And Maggie’s suite is a great example of this! She started by choosing the Smitten With the Mitten Suite, and from there added on a custom map card to highlight the wedding venue and accommodation options, a festivites card, and custom rehearsal dinner card. For the inserts we even added a custom illustration of their sweet dog, Humphrey (best name ever), to use throughout the suite. Adding details like these can make a semi-custom invitation standout and really shine as a unique and personal suite.
A question we often get asked is about the color palette of our semi-customs. Is this the only color option? Does it cost more to have it changed? The answer to both is nope!
We can easily change the colors of the pre-designed suite to match those of your wedding. We can also change the fonts, and take out different artwork elements that you would rather not be included.
