With soft, ethereal details and a beautiful, understated color palette, this styled photo shoot couldn't be more romantic. Set against the gorgeous lavender fields of Sweetwater Lavender Farm, you might think that this styled photo shoot took place in France, when in fact it was shot in Northern Michigan (just another reason to love where I'm from!).
The invitation suite that I created for the shoot was a labor of love and took so many incredibly talented people to make it happen. The envelopes were made of hand-made paper from Owl Post Calligraphy and feature vintage stamps and white calligraphy guest addressing. The invitations are made of clear acrylic, and feature laser engraving by my friend Hugh at Boomerang Custom Laser. They are finished with a hand-dyed silk ribbon from Nettle Textiles, and stamped with a white wax seal, which I was BEYOND excited to incorporate! (See below for the behind-the-scenes story about the wax seal.)
The tablescape design was the perfect mix of rustic french countryside meets classic elegance, with farmhouse tables, crisp white china, and sprigs of lavender at each setting.
Okay! So the full story of the wax seal... I recently inherited my Grandmother's writing desk, and when I moved it into our house I found the wax seal stamp in one of her drawers. I came to find out that it was my great-great-grandfather's stamp, and was used while he was working as the Italian Correspondent for the Chicago Tribune in the late 1800's. I mean, how cool is that?? I feel like I found a piece of the puzzle that makes up who I am, and now I know that my love of stationery and these beautiful details really does run deep. And then being able to incorporate it into the styled shoot was just pure magic.
